As a writer,
Dr. Kim recently authored a book titled Korean Neo-Confucian Perspectives on Laozi and Zhuangzi (Three Pines Press, 2026) and anticipates having one more monograph on Korean religions published by the end of 2026.

As a translator,
Dr. Kim has been translating many important premodern Korean and Chinese religious and literary classics into English, most of which remain largely unknown in Western scholarship.

As a scholar,
Dr. Kim has conducted extensive research on excavated manuscripts and archaeological finds in China and has produced many articles, chapters, and presentations on historical issues of Early China, including the textual formation of received classics, the storytelling of the past and memory-making in early political culture, and reconstructing early intellectual history.
         Recently, he has recently expanded his research to some premodern Korean religious, literary, and historical texts that have received little attention in Western academia.

As a professor,
Dr. Kim has taught a broad range of courses on religions, literature, and intellectual history of premodern China and premodern Korea at several American universities, including the University of California, Berkeley; Washington University in St. Louis; and Emory University.

And... As a decent human being,
Dr. Kim enjoys painting and photography, playing music, watching films, and embarking on backpacking trips around the world.
